Thomas Youm, MD (New York, NY), demonstrates how to treat avascular necrosis using a manual expandable reamer to create core decompression of the femoral head. Dr. Youm uses a combination of demineralized bone matrix and bone marrow aspirate to backfill the defect and fills the tract left by the reamer with an injectable calcium phosphate cement.
